Asmer to race in GP2 with FMS

BMW Sauber's test driver Marko Asmer will race in the GP2 Series in the remaining part of the season after signing a deal with the FMS International team, autosport.com can reveal.

The Estonian driver, who won the British Formula 3 championship last season, will make his racing debut in GP2 in next week's race at Magny-Cours.

Asmer will replace Briton Adam Carroll in the Italian squad, the Briton's deal with the team expiring after the race in Monaco.

Twenty-three year-old Asmer, who has not raced since last yer, will be partnering Spaniard Roldan Rodriguez at the team.

Asmer joined FMS for his first outing in this afternoon's test at Paul Ricard.
